techno indigenes
5/9/12; a hasty un-edited note..
At 4am, as I was getting ready to go milk, I had a radio ad running thru my head- the one about the wild spaces, with the loon call in the background. And I had a curious 3 layered emotional response. The first was 'my' reaction to it. the second was that of the target audience. the third was that of an indigenous inhabitant to whom the birdsong was an everyday accompaniment to life in and about the swamp.
They were all quite different, altho mine had probably a closer ring to the indigenous.
Mine had a slight lift of happiness but overlaid with the weight of trying to bring my dream forward into reality- it is not going entirely well this year.
The target audience was 'out in nature' and all 'happy-happy' about the beautiful birdsong.
The indigenous- if I might presume- was more of a feeling of being 'at work', or 'at home'- in the accustomed place, going about the accustomed tasks, noting and participating in the accustomed environment and interactions..
