'Seeing' Into the Ecosystem
This is one of the things that has started to happen since I undertook studies 'in more depth' of what goes on around me. I think it first occurred after I had been fishing with my husband for a few years. I realized that when I looked at a given body of water, I wasn't just 'seeing' the surface. Rather, I was aware, as well, of features beneath the surface. I am not laying claim to specifics (altho there have been a few golden times when I just said 'stop, go back', as we had passed a specific spot in the canoe. And when we went back, I would cast- and there would be a fish, right there. It's only happened 3 times over many years, and it's always funny when it happens.) But it is as if the insight into the depths 'unfolds' as I look at the surface. It is a deeper awareness, a good way of 'seeing', a way I want to deepen and enrich.
It is a good thing, too, to have this 'insight' in looking at the ecosystem; the fields, the garden, the trees. 'Seeing' with 'the mind's eye'.
I love how our language gives hints as to this 'seeing'. 'Insight'. 'In more depth'. 'The mind's eye'. It's something we refer to but may not know, that we know.
